Need to collect Tickets Javelin Free?

I need to collect my tickets from Stratford and was wondering if the Javelin service was free? I only have oyster PAYG.
I was told that it was a complimentary service that they were running and all the ticket barriers would be open, can someone please advise.
I don't want a £20 penalty fare.

I'm not 100% sure whether it's actually free or not, but I've used it several times and each time the barriers have been open at both ends and nobody was checking tickets.

Even if you are meant to have a ticket to travel, I think it's highly unlikely you'll get stopped.

I think the official answer is that this is a service covered by your games travelcard.

but what if you have to collect the travelcard.
If the barriers are open there must be a reason...

The barriers are open to speed things up at a few stations but you'll certainly need to pay if you go to any non-Games venue tube station. I would hope you'll be lucky with the Javelin as that's mainly used by Games spectators and you'll get a travel card from Stratford for the return but even if you do have to pay, I guess you just have to think of the £6 you saved by not having your tickets delivered.
