Aurora Communicator Software

Does anyone use this software that could perhaps help me to get it set up and working - is it worth it?

Do you use wireless or usb connctions?

Any help appreciated - panels installed end of july

  • what inverter model you got ?
the pvi range needs a rj45 or rj12 for comms. via the rs485 port.
the usb port is for diagnostic and service upgrade only.
I'm not aware of wireless coms. on these inverters

    Hi thanks for replying,

    Invertor is a PVI 3.6-TL-OUTD.

I did manage to connect to the PC this afternoon via the USB type B to type A connection- pretty good - gave me stats and graphs of all generation since switched on, weekly, monthly, 90 did all worked well, but the daily didn't show anything, so need to work that out.

Would still like to be able to connect without the cable -any idea what a TCP/IP – RS232 bridge is

Aurora do have the radio module and the PVI Desktop device, although I appreciate that this is expensive.
4kW PV System installed 21/2/12: Aurora Power One 3.6 Inverter

On course for 19.8% ROI in Year 1.
    Immersun installed 13/9/12
  • try over at the navitron forum , some good techie guys there
  • I have the same inverter as mentioned in the thread, I have set up an old laptop in a wardrobe and connected this to the Inverter via a RS485 cable, and a RS485 - USB connecter. ( I would of linked to the instruction sheet but I am not allowed)
As this laptop is on the net, running Aurora Communicator, it then updates pvoutput.org ( I was going to link to my system but again restricted) , which is fantastic as it allows for live internet viewing of your system even to Android phones.

I also twigged from monitoring the system that it wasnt set up right as the Vstart voltage was too high, so one array failed to start quite regularly. I did mention this to the installer who was clueless and ignored my emails.

    Happy saving and monitoring (:>)

I'd certainly be interested in some more details of how you've got it set up.

At the moment i have to go up the attic with the PC and connect via a USB port and download the data.

Would be great to have access via internet - we developed a small fault recently and luckily spotted it quite quickly but it could have gone unnoticed for ages

I have a rs485 to usb cable too ( after i checked out what it was)

I can get graphs of yearly, monthly, weekly generation okay.

However the daily option, which has time across the x axis, just produces a blank graph.

    Any ideas?
