If you use a slow cooker you save on electricity and it makes the cheapest cuts of meat really tender.
I bought a breadmaker and now make my own dough for pizzas and rolls - it will even make jam!
You could try Freecycle or car boot sales for a slowcooker or a breadmaker. Aldi or Lidl sometimes have them at really good prices."This site is addictive!"
