Haggling down iPad prices at John Lewis?

I'm considering buying an iPad at John Lewis and want to see if I can get a discount.

What's your experience of John Lewis? Are they flexible with their prices at all? Any chance they'll offer me a student discount?

What would be the best days of the week or time of the day for that?

I work for JL and we don't offer discounts, especially not on fast moving, popular lines such as I Pad's. However, you do get an extra year's warranty for free which would be an extra £100 from Comet, and we check our prices so we are always matching the lowest high street competitor.

I think you will struggle to get most Apple products cheaper, Apple seem to control their prices pretty well. I'm using an IPad to type this, I got 5% off by a back door method really. Through my employers I got 5% off Comet vouchers, ordered £400 worth and paid £380 for them. Used them in Comet to buy said IPad.

This is what I've heard too, you don't get discounts! However I intend to buy an ipad from Argos or Sainsburys so I can use my nectar points - at the moment I'm looking at £70 off! Yay!
