I think I've broken my cake...

Hi everyone, I'm supposed to be making a birthday cake for a friend tomorrow and all was well until I went to check it - I think I must have knocked the oven dial down when I was cleaning up as it was at 120 degrees  :wall: It has a crater in the centre now! Any ideas as to what I can do to make it look intentional? It is/was a large square chocolate sponge and the outside edges are structually fine. many thanks, cel x

Can you cut out the hole to make a circle, cover whole thing including sides of hole with chocolate buttercream or ganache, and then place a small vase in the hole and fill with spring flowers -polyanthus, narcissi and the like ?

Thanks so much everyone, thriftlady, that's great. I had a small pot with a flowering polyanthus on the windowsill, wrapped pot in cellophane and tied with ribbon, it fits perfectly - and looks like it was meant to be there! I covered the rest in milk chocolate frosting and flicked white chocolate splashes up it and tied a matching ribbon round the middle. Phew...

It looks great - and much better than my DH's suggestion of covering it in grey and silver frosting and sitting an icing Clanger in the middle. lol thanks so much for your help! I can stop panicing now! cel x
