Vacuum Cleaner

Unsure if this is the right section to post this on, if it aint let me know.
Im after a vacuum cleaner for my house, we have a germen sheperd and two kids. The house has cream carpets thoughout (we are only renting).
The VC w have aint that good to be honest you can still see dog hair on the floor.
SO....
Can anyone reccomended a good one? Got up to £150 to spend.
