Hi just to let anyone know who lives or on holiday near Weymouth etc you can get a great free dayout and watch the sailing too.
Drive to Dorchester park and ride (free today and Friday, not sure about the weekend) plenty of spaces and very frequent buses take you into Weymouth and back until 11.30pm.
Roads to Dorchester and Weymouth not buzy.
In Weymouth the atmosphere is exciting, greaters are everywhere to help you but its not packed with visitors.
Make your way to the beach large sceens are on the sand or go into the free spectators part or go into the sports area where you can participate for free watersports, cricket, table tennis etc and sometimes meet a celeb there.- It was busy but not packed.
Otherwise make your way to the pavillion and go inside the 360 degree cinema come and go as you please and no queuing.
To see the olympics sailing make your way to Nothe Point dont go up the steps you need a ticket but follow the path around the harbour to the beach, you can get a great view from here, take a packed lunch.
There is loads of the usual things also to do in Weymouth like feed the swans or walk around the swannery, have time at the beach, watch punch and judy, do abit of shopping, sit outside a pub on the harbour etc.
We had a great day out, was at a loss what to do for little money this school hols I think a day here fits the bill for every age.
Hope this helps someone else.
