Thanks all and toothsmith I thought I would need brace I assumed that my wisdom teeth where doing it.
I suspect I was be sent to the dental hospital as my tooth is growing out to my gum rather than down
I had surgery on my mouth a few years back and the surgeon did say at the time " I'll be seeing you soon for those wisdom teeth" Scared the life out of me as the pain from surgery was horrid!
Think I have been putting this off for ages but I have my apointment for next Tuesday wish me luck !Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -
Hi have a look around locally to see if there is a Dental Hospital - they should do it free. Can't help you with NHS costs sorry, no dentist in my local area will do NHS work since the government changes
which is s**s law, as it's the first time in my life I'm entitled to free dentistry :-( 0 -
I second the post about a sickie!
Hada tooth out acouple of months ago & went to work later that day - felt fine but within 15 mins collapsed on the floor!
As previous posters have said cost of extraction not too much.
Good luck & take care.0 -
I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Toothsmith. Yet another reason why this site is just the tops
Thank you for your informed and responsible advice and for being so generous with your time. I shall keep you updated by PM but in the meantime a huge public thank you accompanied by a huge healthy gummed smile
Now, I am off to find as much of your old post as possible so I can thank you until I reach the point of exhaustion

I guess you'll have already had the tooth removed by now then! Hope it went ok. Just in case you chickened out... My wisdom tooth was growing sideways out of my gum and I put off having it removed for ages despite the fact that my gum hurt and kept getting infected!!
I eventually had it done and it was just so easy I needn't have worried or suffered for so long. My dentist pulled it out. My dentist is private and I paid £50-00. Money well spent I think.0 -
P.S I had paracetamol once and didn't need anything else. I felt better by the next day.0
