Learning to touch type is one of the best skills I ever learned.
IMO the ability to touch type, spell, have a good grasp of maths and drive are key skills needed to get along in life.
OP good luck with learning to type 'properly' I'm sure you won't regret it.
Completely agree - the only other learned skill I value as much is driving!anamenottaken wrote: »Tippex is very modern. Did you not use an eraser and protect the carbon copy with bits of paper which sometimes you would forget to remove and then get bald spaces on the carbon copy?
I'd forgotten about the erasers - I always left holes in the paper:oOwain_Moneysaver wrote: »And ruled tabulations. Gawd how I hated ruled tabulations.
:rotfl:I'd forgotten about these aswell - my brain has wiped them from my memory, they were hated so much:rotfl:
I remember our (very old) manual typewriters had white round sticky labels over the letters on the keys - very MSE! And, during practice of "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" we used to run a book on who could make the typewriter "ping" first:)0 -
Remember the erasers were on one end of a long pencil with a brush at the other end to get rid of the bits.
RSA Level III was the worst with 2 sets of carbons. No matter how good you were at corrections someone else could always tell.
Wasn't word processing wonderful, no more carbons and mess and automatic centring!0 -
My 16 year old nephew is dyslexic, and as a result learnt typing a few years ago. He's just doing his dream work experience job as a direct experience of being an experienced typist
Typing is still worth learning....:)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
