Fence panels blown down in storms (months ago), but school won't replace them...

  • This is an interesting idea and discussed in another thread. Schools are not designed as cages for children. They cannot be totally locked up as many people need to have access to the school grounds every day - for example parents, postman, delivery drivers, lunch time staff, cooks etc. In the school where I work the gates to the school are closed but not locked during the day. Access to the school building is by intercom only. The children are supervised when they are playing out but not locked in so having a secure fence is not an issue. If the school has maintaied the fence in the past I would imagine that they will repair it, but they may have other thngs which seem more pressing at the moment. I know that I am run off my feet at work and the bursar may well not be deliberatly avoiding you, just very busy, also if you left messages I know from experience that they are not always passed on. I would advise what another poster suggested - get some quotes and send them to the school, that way if they are very busy you have done most of the work for them and hopefully it will speed things up. Bear in mind that the Easter holidays are coming up now so nothing will get done over that time.

I take your point. The site I worked on had an open gate but that was at the front of the site and the children played at the back. I think the problem with broken fence panels would have been that it would not have been controlled in the same way as the gate which we kept the children away from and where we expected people to enter the site from.

These fence panels are all at the back of the school campus, where the playing fields are and the infant/junior school. They are really dragging their feet
