HSBC Panel Solicitors - Can you choose?

Hello All,

We're hoping to use HSBC for our mortgage and i've just been reading up on the solicitors on their list as we'll be going through the process before the 31st August.

Can you choose who you want to use from the list? For example, there is only one local firm to us on there so i'd prefer them out of all the other options.

ALso, we can't get an appt until 20th August in Branch with HSBC regarding the mortgage but may have an offer accepted on our home before then. In which case could I instruct the solicitor I would like from the list myself and then just tell HSBC when we complete the mortgage app?
