Jobs clearing bank owned properties (repossessions)

Any idea how a house clearance business would go about securing clearance/cleaning contracts for banks etc ?

Thanks in advance, Richy.

Richey, I don't know for sure but I do not think banks would directly contract for this service. i would imagine if you are talking re-possessing and clearing that it would be the property or estate agent that would deal with the clearance. Have you tried contacting businesses that specialise in resale of repossessed property and asked them.

Banks and building societies have central repossession / recovery departments. It's not dealt with at branch level. Most will appoint a firm of surveyors to deal with repossessing the property, often in association with a bailiff (but doesn't always have to be present) and always with a lock smith. The bank may directly appoint a company to do any clearance work, but normally it's the firm of surveyors that deal with clearing the place out.

However, what you now find is that a surveying company will appoint one contractor to act as locksmith, plus drain all the plumbing systems down, isolate electricity, undertake any minor repairs plus clear out and debris etc.

The biggest national company that does this kind of work is a company called 'Move With Us' Their head office is in Cambridgeshire. They regularly sub contract out house clearance eyc to smaller operators like yourself.

Try googling them. Also, try and contact firms of Cgartered Surveyors and ask if they eve get instructed by banks to undertake repossessions.

Most banks have specialist Buying departments for any services they need. For RBS you can start by going to http://www.rbs.com/contact/supplying-goods-and-services.html

That said, most banks prefer to have national contracts rather than local providers but that isnt to say that their national provider doesnt subcontract out some/ all the work to others as Phill99 suggests

I guess you are looking for all sorts of work then,

    Check out the competition.

Auction houses will know the main players since anything 1/2 decent will end up there.

    They will also contract work

There are probably more estate clearances than repos so solicitors and estate agents and traul the obituries in the local papers.

Estate agebts that deal with bank repos will probaly have a handle on the clearence work.

    Next will the council contract.

Have you sorted out disposals auctions, clearance/second hand shops and antique collectors.

the money is at the back end not the front.

As you will have the vans etc, also look at local removal services, man with a van etc to keep the trucks on the road.

Asume you have storage facilities allready.

    Richey

If you go for Council or housing association clearance contracts it helps if you have "sharps" training and higher level H&S training especially things like spotting and handling hazardous substances
