I've started making some suggestions above.

Avoid using "I" in describing the job. Use the past tense for your first post with them (unless you are still doing it along with your newer responsibilities). Use bullet points rather than sentences - it's quicker to scan.

    No date of birth......................??

All headings should be in bold or underlined.

Why is the 'personal interest in capital and bold, make it the same as the other headings
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I'd stick with bullet points when describing job role rather than paragraphs. Makes it easier to read.

    Date of Birth NO
    Marital Status NO absolutely
    Dependants NO absolutely
Driving license (if applicable) - OP has already mentioned this and the spelling corrected. If you are in the UK you are licensed to hold a licence. Better to include it with other qualifications.

Personal statement: stay away from the cliche's, "self motivated" "team player" use more interesting words for employers "reliable" "friendly" "enthusiastic" "flexible" "focussed" "sociable" Depends on the job.

    Position applied for

Description of why you've applied (there has to be a reason to employ you, rather than being lost in the other average CV's) That's what goes in the covering letter.

Availability to start work Don't bother or include in letter
    Availability for interview ditto

Education/Qualifications - better to have note of work experience before providing general educational qualifications

Work experience (most recent job first)

    Position
Employer It's the same employer for the OP
    Dates from - to
Skills (highlight and special or technical skills here)
    Job Description
    Reason for leaving NO

    list all jobs

Hobbies/Interests when there's space which is probably the case for the OP - By the way OP participation in extreme sports isn't very attractive on a CV for most employers - they worry you will be off with a broken leg!

References available on request - not really necessary but no harm to say so if it doesn't take up space more usefully taken by skills/experience

Too long. Make it one page only.

Remember an employer will take about 2 seconds to decide whether to put your application in the small pile of possibles or the large wastepaper basket full of rejects.
There has to be something that stands out long enough for him to decide it is worth reading.

Hi there, good luck in your search. Your CV seems fine (you have missed out a few commas in the initial paragraph though). It may also be far too long and bullet points will really help this. Can you not cut down on some of the information which seems quite involved and often results in a prospective employer just glancing through the CV?

LittleVoice I worked in recruitment for 15 years, 10 of which as the owner of a 100+ staff agency, the advice you are giving is politically correct in terms of what employers can or cannot ask, however, that's not necessarily going to get you an interview.

My credentials in recruitment offer more years and as an employer, not an agency consultant.

It's not about being "politically correct" but about providing relevant information, not wasting space.

My advice is to take all the guesswork out of your CV so the prospective employer can consider or discount you based on the information before them.

Why wouldn't you tell someone how old you are? they may need experienced managers, not a 16 year old school leaver, employers who discriminate on age aren't worth working for anyway.

I wrote "no" against date of birth but not "no absolutely" because there is some sense in indicating an age if an employer needs a particular age for insurance purposes for instance. That doesn't appear to be the case for the likely work for the OP. If they want an experienced manager then the job history tells you that, not age. There are plenty of 40 year olds who are not experienced managers. The OP is clearly not a 16yo school leaver.

Why wouldn't you show your marital status, whats to hide, or what's good or bad about that? Same goes for dependants?

Marital status and dependants - of absolutely no business of the employer in deciding whether the person should be interviewed. Do you care whether people with whom you work are married, single, or widowed?

Show stability, commitments, flexibility, if they're relevant either way for the job you're going for then the idea is to get yourself into the best fitting job with the right employer, not to mask, hide, brush aside any possible pitfalls, you'll just end up in a job that's wrong for you, or an unhappy employer.

Why wouldn't you give your availability to start work? If you're free now that may fit in with the employers needs, if you have 3 months notice before you can start, that too may fit in with their plans. Be upfront, be open, be straight, it works in your favour every time.

You don't put that on a CV - it goes in the covering letter. As an agent you probably don't consider covering letters because you are the one forwarding the CV (and you probably re-present in your own standard format). Start dates are very often negotiable, why commit to anything before you even have an interview?

NO, put qualifications, before work experience every time.

NO: once you have experience, you sell that ahead of your 6 GCSEs.

Reason for leaving: I'm going to ask you your reason for leaving your previous jobs, I'm going to ask you what made you apply for the next job you took. You're either a genuine honest jobseeker or not. We are going to get to the bottom of these things at interview, pre-empt them

Employers ask that at interview and can explore it further. It really isn't something one puts on CVs these days. (It is something employers ask on application forms but we are thinking about CVs here.)

With regards to things like extreme sports scenario, the suggestion to leave this off a CV is misleading to a prospective employer, if you're going to be potentially putting yourself in a situation where you may break a leg every few months, then you should be honest at the outset and not mislead your employer.

Why give an employer a reason not to interview you when you can show what an excellent person you are? We are advising an applicant here.

Writing things that aren't true on your CV is a criminal offence, it's obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception.

No one has suggested telling lies on the CV.

Isn't that replacing one set of cliches with another?

With the emphasis on "keywords" in CVs nowadays it's very difficult not to use any cliches.
  • It's far too wordy - if that came through to me it would probably go in the TL : DR pile.

Shorten it down to one or two pages maximum and bullet-point your skills. Your CV is a statement of your skills, experience and qualifications - only a Personal Statement bit (one paragraph max!) should be about your personality IMO.

Good luck with your job hunt!
