Belfast swimming pools - Quiet times

Hi folks, what generally are the quietest times to go to the swimming pools in Belfast? I'm not the most confident person but I'd like to get back to the pool again. Thanks.
I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!

Early mornings are usually less kiddy if that helps :) not necessarily not busy but summer holidays are bad for having loads of kids.

Thanks, what's the late evening like? Friday evening would be ideal if it's not busy.

At all the pools in Belfast that I've tried, it's pretty difficult to get a quiet time at all. You'd think that the mornings (esp weekend) would be quiet enough but they are often very busy in my experience. Any time I've tried at lunch or in the afternoon it's been totally busy though.

Things have slacked off a little over summer if you go early but against this you typically get Summer schemes for kids kicking off around 9am so that generally rules the rest of the morning and often early afternoon out.

I did once try a Friday evening and it was relatively empty so that might be worth a shot. Try asking the receptionist/ cashier at your local pool what the best times are. It may also be that they have dedicated classes or sessions for beginners so ask about that too.

I don't know how you are budget wise but I'd guess that some private health clubs might be less likely to be heavily populated by children. It might be worth giving a call and doing a trial at a few. I'm thinking about Spirit on Ormeau Avenue, LA fitness (I think) just off Ormeau Avenue and maybe Queen's PEC?

I agree with Suplex, your best bet is to ask the receptionist, they'll know when all the classes are on and what times you should avoid. I asked in the Valley and as far as I recall she said Monday nights were quiet, but this was about 18 months ago now.

As belfastgirl said, have you thought about paying for a club? Queen's PEC is good - it's normally expensive, but it's brilliant this time of year. It's pretty empty so it might be worth looking into :).

The old Grove swimming pool used to be excellent as there was an end separate for children. Then they built that new attempt, not sure what the new one is like but if the old one was anything to go by there were not a lot of keen swimmers in the area.
