Halifax - Default

Hello everyone,
Firstly I am not sure if this is in the correct section of the forum so could a moderator please move it if it isnt.
I have just received and looked at my statutory credit report from Experian and to my dismay there appears to be a lot of information incorrect.
Under my accounts it has be owing Halifax £329.00 which was last updated on 11/09/11. This bank account has been completely empty and in credit since about February this year. It also has me on a code: 8 (defaulted) since October 2010 and still shows defaulted for every since month from that date until the last update on 11/09/11.
Any idea why this has happened? Its crazy because I can log in to my on-line banking and see the account at £0.00.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would go straight to Halifax, speak to someone, rather than just look online. Whatever the problem they are the only ones that can update your credit reports with the correct information.Debt-Free day 30th September 20140

Hello,
Thanks for the reply. I have contacted them and they couldnt tell me any information. I have to write to them. What a bother.0 -
Does anyone have a letter template to use in this instance? Would be greatly appreciated.0

Were you in debt during that time? If the account was cleared in February, then it would indicate that you may have been overdrawn or in debt prior to that date. A marker noting the debt in September 2011 would relate to debt at that time, not the fact that it was cleared in February 2012.
Was your overdraft removed/changed? Were you overdrawn beyond the agreed OD level at that time? If you were not within the terms of your agreement on the dates listed, then the fact it is clear now will count for nothing.
Sorry, I'd be the first to scream at Halifax as they have applied incorrect information to my account. However, you need to check the situation during those months and see what state your account was in then. Now is irrelevant. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Hello,
I was in debt at that time but I dont understand why it hasnt been updated since September 2011. Also why it shows a default for every month from October 2010 to September 2011. Confusing.0 -
Were you in debt every month between those dates? Had you failed to comply with a change in the overdraft rules or something?
Are you sure they are all defaults, and not just negative markers indicating debt? Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I was in debt every month bewteen those dates. It was a student overdraft that I was paying off. I had agreed a repayment plan but unfortantely missed one or two payments.
The credit report clearly shows default for every single month. Very frustrating as it is having a massive effect on my scoring.
Thanks.0 -
Unless you made up the missed payments and paid the due payment each month, then it can be classed as a default (you are technically behind). It's very harsh, but some places do it that way. You could ask the bank to produce an updated report with information to the present date, but those defaults will probably stay. If it is now entirely clear, the update indicating the account was settled in full might help a bit.

Can they give you a default for every single month though? Surely just from the original date? I was notified my account was in debt and was issued a default in October 2012. Dont understand why I had one every single month for over a year when I was making payments.0
