Hi All,
Myself and my girlfriend are just purchasing our 1st house and are goign with Natwest for the mortgage due to their 5 year, low fee, low % fixed rate deal.
I now need to choose a solicitor and the quotes I've got from a couple of local firms seem very high to what I can find over on
agentquote dot co dot uk
Does anyone have any experience of this site, or any recommendations of where to find good solicitors to use at a decent price?
We're based in Southampton and the house is £156000, on the site above I can get it for around £820-£890 inc VAT/searches/land registry fees etc with a good choice of firms, but local firms seem to want more like £1100-£1200
Any advice appreciated

Lots of those sites - both public and broker orientated.
I am not a fan of price selected conveyancing lotteries.
I have just done a near identical (purchase) quote using the solicitor (national) we have used as sole referred provider for over 5 years (a quality based selection by us) at £1,040 including VAT/bank transfer/ land transaction/official searches/local authority and drainage searches, land registry fee.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thanks for the comments guys, I went back to the local/recommended solicitor and managed to negotiate £150 (inc VAT) off their initial quote so think we'll probably go with them now, wasn't sure if they'd move on price or not but I guess everything is negotiable!0
