Standard Life are considering paying out surpluses to policy holders (see below)!
Is this true? My policy matured on the 20th March 2007, so will I lose out if it happens? Surely, some of surpluses were accumulated whilst I had the policy, so I hope i'll get something out of it, especially given I had a shortfall on the policy.

Standard Life yesterday raised the prospect of paying out more than £1bn of surplus assets inits life fund to more than 2m with-profits policyholders as it announced plans to cut 1,000 jobs over the next two years."
Trevor Matthews, chief executive of the UK life and pensions business, said that, if the entire £1.3bn surplus was paid out immediately, it would add about 4 per cent to policy values.

If your policy has matured, then its too late.
You would expect the orphan asset payout to be in the form of a special bonus added to the value of plans in force at the time. If and when this does happen, we are probably looking at late 2008/early 2009.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
