Sole Trader Trading As
Options

Hi there,
I'm setting up as a sole trader doing proofreading. I want to call myself XYZ Proofreading (for example), but I am registered with HMRC as a sole trader.
On my website can I do an XYZ Proofreading logo, etc, but do I need to say somewhere My Name trading as XYZ Proofreading? Is that just on invoices or should it be somewhere on the website too?
Hope that makes sense!
It's only a small enterprise, I won't earn enough to register for VAT but I have registered for income tax.

The more information on your website the better:

As a sole trader your name and business address need to be shown on a website.0

The rules for a Limited Company are very clearly defined; for Sole Traders best practice sometimes applies. I do know some consultants who do not put an address on their websites, but they do not accept payments via their sites and Google supplies a lot of information about them and they normally get work from personal recommendation.
If you are planning to accept online payments, and to use your website as your main marketing tool and to accept commissions from anyone who finds your site, then the more information the better.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

As a sole trader your real name and address do not legally need to be on the site unless you are selling anything in which case they must be - people must know who they are forming a contract with.
That said, it is good practice to have full contact details on any website as it does give visitor confidence.
Most will just put their name t/a brand at the footer and again in any T&Cs0
