It's essential that you record every tiny scratch in the Accident Book immediately ... because it's your only come back if something then turns into something bigger in the coming days/weeks/months.

He wants to request the following

    Lone worker policy
    Accident procedures
Accident procedures when no senior staff available
    Disciplinary procedures

What he doesn't want to do it phone and ask for them to be made available for them to type something that day and present it to him. Can he attend the office and say he will wait while they are copied? Ie without an appointment.

Thanks pastures. This is all helpful - even if you think he has no chance.

Or should he just request these procedures at the appeal hearing?

He can, but equally they can say they are busy and that they will get them to him later.

How long has he worked there?

One further question. Rules state they need to be consistent in their approach. A couple of weeks ago a staff member was given a verbal warning for swearing at a child and another for failing a breath test. My husband has been sacked for leaving work an hour early.

So, he had surgery planned, and the accident aggravated the situation and has brought it forward.

He may not have realised the severity of it at the point in time, and worked the next couple of days too.

It seems to me that not reporting it at the time was a minor transgression at worst.

My opinion (IANAL) is that the company has over-reacted.

    Hope it works out!

Yes he had minor surgery to see the extent of the damage back in April. They said he needed a knee replacement urgently but he held off as the summer months at work are busy He knew winter would be easier so he was delaying it until October/November can't do that now.
