Hi we are going to be in Belfast on 18th Aug 2012 and unfortunately the rubbish that is on is Thin Lizzy whatever they are :( we were going to pay for VIP on that night but what extra does that entail does anyone know or should we give it a miss are they crap? VIP what are the extras involved? we are already going vip with our own transport etc so this will be ok but just wondered what else we get for the extra money and is it worth it or are the group crap and old?

Not sure as to what the OP is at? Did they not look at the faq's on the website ;)
    Q. What benefits are there in buying a VIP Ticket?
    A. The VIP area of Belsonic will be the raised platform at the side of the square. It allows exceptionally close views of the stage, as well as (generally) a better view of the stage compared to standard tickets. There will be improved bar facilities with better selection and shorter queues. In addition, there will be better toilet facilities, again with shorter queues.

And if OP had simply typed 'Thin Lizzy' into 'YouTube' he could have saved himself a lot of embarrassment!
murphy - Thin Lizzy are a new dubstep combo who did very well in last year's X-Factor, you'll love them.

The Answer are also playing on the same day - they are an excellant local rock bad - having supported AC/DC on a recent tour.

  • I bought VIP tickets for the Specials last year at Belsonic. The VIP area is to the side of the main standing area (up a couple of steps - so its a few feet higher up) and the only real benefit is there is a separate bar & toilets and so no queues. There is very little room to move, and if you don't get up against the barrier you will see less than if you were in the Standing area.

Please just give the gig a miss completely as you will clearly not enjoy it, VIP or not. Let's be honest you, the band, and the rest of the punters will have a better time if you are not there!

And just for the record, Thin Lizzy are one of the greatest Irish exports of all time, having at various stages of their past featured Belfast's own Eric Bell and Gary Moore on guitar. The latter of whom is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most respected rock and blues guitarists of all time.

Also as someone else pointed out support band The Answer supported the mighty AC/DC on their last world tour, have three albums under their belt, and have in recent years shared stages with the likes of Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones. No mean feat for a bunch of young lads from Downpatrick. You won't have heard of them though because they aren't on Radio 1's inane white noise playlist...
