Looking for a knitting/sewing/mending group

28 year old male and I'm looking for such a group to join. Nobody in my family has these skills and I'm looking to learn.

I'm not in Scotland, so I don't know of any suitable for you, but you might want to post on the Special Occasions board - lots of knitters and stitchers there, plus help and advice if you need it.

Just a thought, though - Scotland is a big place. You might want to narrow down the area for people who might reply.

You could also ask at your local library or community centre - they may know of something local to you. Our group meets in the community centre each week.

I am interested in learning to knit, and I am from East Edinburgh, so either Edinburgh or East Lothian would suffice. Anyone got any ideas?

You don't say where in East Edinburgh you are but there are classes in Leith Academy http://www.leith.edin.sch.uk/community/searchClasses.aspx

I'm in sunny Leith, you could also try Hobbycraft at the fort, I'm sure they have something on every week, don't know if it's classes but they do have a knitting thing on once a week can't remember what day it is though but there's a poster about it in the lift, and that was really helpful wasn't it :rotfl:. Knitting is great fun and people are always impressed with hand made gifts.

Loubelle, ther is a small shop between Bridge Sreet and Figate Street on Portobello High Sreet offering classes. It might be worth a look (unfortunately I'm sure there will be a price to pay :-( )

I too would be interested in learing old style skills such as kniting, sewing and crochet but im in the Glasgow area if there are around l would appreciate to hear from you.l was gonna do a dress making course at college but l think sometimes you learn more from people who have been practicing their skills and have the time and patience to teach a newbie.

I know exactly where you are, I live really close to there so I will definitely check it out.
