Help please! Mis bought tickets- gift??

I just bought my son 2 cardiff football Bronze match tickets, as he's just popped over he didn't have his card so I paid on mine.

Now he's realised he may not be able to go as it's a big day at work that day, but the website states that you can only put them back for resale up to 7 days before the evenet, and it's only 6 days away

So we thought of giving them to family, but on the website it states that the card holder has to be there to collect the tickets- we are in Surrey and I can't get to wales to get tickets, so what happens there? How does it work when someone has bought you tickets as a gift?

Please can someone advise?! Thank you!
