Cheltenham and Gloucester Problems!!

After the nightmare that we have just had with our mortgage with the C & G, i thought i'd let you all know, and if anyone can offer any advice on what our options and rights may be, they would be gratefully received!!
After receving a mortgage offer with C & G, we first chose to pay for a full Homebuyers report for what will be our first house purchase. That way there could hopefully be no bad surprises in the future. We paid £600 to C & G to do this, who after visiting the property at the beginning of March, have failed to give us any such report. A valuation report was sent to us 2 days ago, but shouldn't have cost us £600!! After complaining via our Financial advisor, i then find out that C & G have also sent our mortgage information to the wrong solicitors, only after a phone call from them to ask who we were and why they had our details!!
I was then told that everything had been put right, they would have to revist the property and redo our report, which has held us up another month. I was told the area manager would phone and apologise. After waiting the whole day, ready to make this chap squirm, there was no call. I found out yesturday that he phoned a property i haven't lived in for 10 years and left some garbled apology for me on an answer machine!
So basically they've got our money, have held us up another month, have sent our details to the wrong people, and have no idea how to get hold of me.
Inspiring stuff from the people we've paid a mortgage arrangement fee of £3500 to!
Tomorrow will be a very interesting day! I may let you know how its all gone!
Any help please??
Dan.

At least you haven't signed for the property. Someone was here a few days ago who only noticed after they had lived in the property for a few months!
Not a lot you can do now; luckily the delay has not caused you to lose the house you were after.
Any compensation you would be entitled to would be restricted to any loss incurred. As you haven't incurred a financial loss, I dout you would be entitled to more than a token amount.
As for the £3,500 arrangement fee, that sounds excessive to say the least!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Depends on the rate of the product, silvercar.
I think that they should refund you part of the difference in cost between Homebuyers' report and valuation, as they've delayed your receipt of the Homebuyers' report so much.0 -
True, i thought the arrangement fee a little high, but the interest is at 4.5% for 2 years, which i reckon is ok. If we ever sort it out. NO phone call today. Surprise, surprise!
Thanks MarkyMarkD and SilverCar0
