Mortgage not being paid... not sure what to do?

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
I have a joint mortgage with my ex-partner, from whom my divorce will be finalised in a couple of weeks. We agreed that he would continue to live in the house, pay the mortgage and if I could be removed from it at any stage I would be, if after a number of years the housing market recovered and the house could be sold I would forgo any stake in (extremely unlikely) profits.
Unfortunately, he has stopped paying the mortgage missing payments from June. I discovered this when I contacted the mortgage lender to update my contact details (which I have now done). Court action will proceed if arrears are not cleared by the end of this month. The monthly payment is £200 more than I earn a month, I cannot service this debt at all, and don't really want to make token payments to prevent his eviction. The mortgage lender has offered to to an assessment of my monthly income and expenditure to set affordable payments but I cannot amke them at a level where the arrears would not increase monthly anyway - may be £80 to £100 but I would struggle at that.
He will not communicate with me anymore, even ignore solicitors letters. What should I do? How do I start dealing with this? He has taken in a lodger, so his income has actually increased since we split.

You need to speak to your solicitor really, have your financials part of the divorce been sorted? If not, this needs to be included into that.
I don't think partial payments of the mortgage would help in the long run, the mortgage company are going to be as heavy handed for any small part of the payment not received plus they tend to target the one they think will pay up out of a joint debt and by paying anything they may well decide it is you."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. this is spooky I was in the same position! we even had a legal document drawn making him responsible for the mortgage and I gave him the equity, he stopped paying also I could not make any payments so it was repossessed but took 9 months of stress, before the mortgage company took it. If you cannot afford this maybe contact the mortgage company and explain, might be less stressful to let it go.
I feel for you I now have to file for br this month as there was an emormous shortfall.
Take care and take all the advise you can cccs are very good x0 -
Thanks for the replies, I've spoken to cccs and they've taken me through everything and drawn up a budget for me to send in to demonstrate I can't pay. Essentially advised me that if he continues not to pay it will be a case of sitting out the repossession and filing for bankruptcy after the sale in regard to the shortfall, which would be in the region of £40000.0

I think that's very good advice Gub"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0
