the tax year runs from 6 the april 2006 to 5th april 2007

    during that period
    can you give
    total gross earning
    total tax paid
current (i.e. march 2007) tax code
or if dont have this yet can you give the lastest figures and give the month/week period number

depending upon how much you earned then your non ISA saving might need to be taxed or not. Did you fill in an R85 with them or not?

If you're definitely not going to be earning between August 07 & April 08 then, after you have finished your placement, you need to complete a P50 (downloadable from http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/payetaxpayers/iwtclaim-a-tax-repayment.shtml).

Give the gross figure (i.e. before all deduction unless you pay towards a pension).

Any 'normal' saving scheme (i'm assuming ICICI is simply a saving acccount) will deduct tax at 20% unless you fill in a R85).
  • I used a company called TAXFIX to get back my tax rebate.

They were pretty good and I got back over 1000 pounds which was a nice surprise!

    There website is http://www.taxfix.co.uk

So you paid about 9% commission to them for doing something that HMRC would do for nothing?

There is no need to use any company to get your refund. Simply phone or make an appointment at one of the tax enquiry offices and provide the necessary details.

    I agree 100% with jem16.

Do not pay anyone to get you a tax rebate. You can do this with the tax office (and / or a little help from friends on this site.)
