Help with Vanilla Rice Pudding

I am just making the lunch - and am happy with the familiar hob method I am using for a HM rice pud. However, I want to add a vanilla flavour - I have some vanilla pods - which i have never used at all before. Should I add the pods or the seeds to the rice pudding.

You can add either. If you use the pods, the vanilla flavour won't be as strong but you can wipe the pod afterwards, dry it off and use it again. Alternatively, you can carefully slice the pod in half and scrape out the seeds, and add those to the pudding. The vanilla flavour will be stronger and you can either add the empty pod to the pudding while it cooks, then dry it off and use it again, or store it in some caster sugar to make vanilla sugar. You can do this with the whole pods too.0
