Frozen chicken

Options
Afternoon people,

I have a frozen chicken in the freezer and trying to cut back on spending and using the food i have available. Thing is......

The instructions on chicken say something along the lines of 'freeze on day of purchase and use within one month.'

I have had this chicken in the freezer for about 4 months. Is it safe to eat? Its stuffed. I know i'll have to make sure its defrosted etc..

I have a severe phobia of being sick and wouldnt like to risk it!

Whats peoples thoughts on this?

As long as it is a good freezer that is kept below -18 Degrees C. I would have no problems with eating it
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Providing your freezer works, should be fine. The most likely problem would be freezer 'burn', where it might have formed large ice crystals, which would affect the texture slightly. It's not likely to give you food poisoning, it's just that the manufacturers put the disclaimer to prevent anyone complaining about the product. Defrost it, and if it smells ok, cook it thoroughly and I'm prepared to bet it'll be fine!

    Id eat it!:D

But then I treat my freezer as a miracle machine, I put stuff in and then forget about/loose it for months but when its defrosted it still tastes great! LOL

this is quite a good site for knowing how long things should last HTH
