Has anyone successfully washed the cushion covers on their sofa, i.e. the covers for the seating pads and the back cushions, not just little cushions you would use to accessorize. Mine of course say 'specialist clean only' but I'm wondering about a quick run in the washing machine. Having said that, my net curtains tore when I stuck them in the washing machine, which is why I'm so precious about my sofa ... but it is looking grubby, and I thought I could VAX the rest of the sofa and chairs, but stick the removable covers in the machine ... any top tips gratefully received!!

My sofas in the sitting room are a denim blue coloured chenile, mixed fibre fabric. I take them off 4-5 times a year and wash them, on a cool/warm wash with delicate wash action, despite the fact that they are 'supposed' to be dry clean only.
They have withstood 4 years of this treatment an and they are only a cheap pair of sofas from a DFS type place.
Maybe twice a year I take the vax to the non removable front and side fabric but that doesn't get too grubby anyway.
If you remove the cover cases you may find the finishing inside to be of a shocking poor quality (you are not supposed to take them off and look inside- are you. LOL) so be prepared for the odd seam repair once washed and dried.

Mine say specialist clean only, but I wash them about twice a year on a quick cool wash. Ever so slight shrinkage the first time, nothing since. I would say put them back on slightly damp they look so much better that way than allowing them to dry fully.(no wrinkles) Mine do look slightly faded, but they are 7 years old. A friend of mine has dyed hers in the washing machine and they look great ,so I am considering doing the same.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0

My sofa is cream, my cat is black, the sofa covers say dry clean blah blah...I cleaned it with a sponge too and a bowl of washing up liquid. If you are unsure Morgan try a little bit at the back or where no one will see it?0

I used to handwash mine with no problems at all. You will be shocked at what comes out of them so be prepared!!!!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!
