Yes you'd need to buy compatible inks, when the supplied one's run out, but this is one of the lowest priced iPad compatible printers I've seen. It uses Airprint wireless technology.
Currently on direct for £36 (reduced from £49.99) but in store it is marked as £34.97 but goes through at £36 resulting in a small DTD. Taking it down to £33.94 plus clubcard points.

I have one of these, works brilliantly, had to set it up on my network using my laptop but now prints from ipad, iphone and laptop. Ink is about £16 for a twin pack of of one colour, one b&w on ebay. I recommend it.0

If you have your printer connected to a pc or mac already, you can turn it into an airprint printer by installing netgear genie. Your computer will need to be turned on to print to it though.0

Cor ouchy on the ink front, mind you I am spoilt with my Epson 99p per cart but if you want Airprint and this floats your boat then go for it0

I've set mine up and I'm really pleased with just how easy it is to use, I agree the ink is pricey. The ease of use is brilliant though, one click printing from iPad and I can use it with the laptop or email it from anywhere
