Old Style way with Hair Oils any suggestions?

My epoch-making History-making and swearword Salvation for my hair below
[IMG][/img]photo3-122.jpg the Hairdresser, bless her, used Mythic Oil a mixture of Avocado Oil and Grapeseed Oil.
So my thoughts are, are there ways to do this OS style to replicate this wonderful look. (I have never been so pleased as to post piccies of myself ever in my life!!!).
I have fine hair, the hairstyle was my first introduction to 'big hair' no bad thing and protein spray because split ends couldn't be cut off for style integrity. The restyle was done at Tony and Guy's on Colchester High Street at £5 and could take up to 3 hours to get it right, I had to wait whilst trainee checked with a very competent Young man the Staff Trainer who interpreted me right.
So suggestions and ideas please!:beer::money::money::cool:

Make up your own blend of this mythic stuff. There are plenty of places online to buy avocado and grapeseed oils.

Getting the style right is a matter of experimentation, I expect. I can never get my own hair to look the same way at home that a stylist might be able to achieve in the salon but that's why they train for yonks and keep re-training

I don't quite understand your post. Are you implying that they styled your hair in curls for you and used vegetable oils on it as well?

If so, did they apply the oils:

    - Liberally, as a deep treatment that was then washed out before styling, or

    - Sparingly, on wet hair before styling, or

    - After styling, on dry hair, like a serum?

All of the above are possible ways of using oils in your hair but I am not sure that the oils will have had much to do with the end result of the curls themselves. They may have influenced how soft your hair felt, but will not have made the hair curl. That was down to the styling.

For more information on how to use vegetable oils on your hair, see:

    or

You do not have to use expensive oils such as avocado. There are a wide range of vegetable oils that may be used in hair. Coconut, olive, and almond are some of the most popular ones. There are also butters that can be used as oils. For example, cocoa butter or shea butter.

Some are heavier and thicker, some are lighter. Which one you choose depends on your budget, what you're using the oil for, and what your hair type is.

Personally I do not use oils on my hair because my hair is not very porous and it does nothing for me. But if you have non-porous hair, oil may work very well for you.

Link to article explaining how to figure out your hair type:

Once you know your hair type you can go on hair forums linked to above and ask for recommendations of oils used by people who have the same type.

As this has dropped down the OS board, and is more Health and beauty related, i've moved it over here for you

  • You can buy Mythic Oil for about £11 on amazon, the bottle lasts forever and there's also a shampoo and conditioner in the same range, but these are a bit pricey imo.
  • Wow your hair looks great! Loads of body and curl. Really nice :)

Very pretty! :) The best oil for hair is coconut oil, it is rich in lauric acid which is small enough to penetrate the hair shaft. For protein look for hydrolysed on the label, that again means it is small enough to penetrate the hair. Neither will penetrate if your conditioner is packed with silicones (-xane, -cone, -conol).
