Selling books online

I have got some books to sell on ebay but I found that when I searched ebay to see if there were the same books listed on ebay with the same title, the same author and same cover appearance. To my dismay I found that there were the same books listed. The problem is that the price for some of the listed books was a lot cheaper than what I want to sell my books for. Who would buy a book from me for £30 when they are aware that they can buy the same book for £0.99. I feel that these are quality books. Is it possible for me to sell them on ebay despite the competition. If so how? I would also like to sell books on ebay but what books should I buy to sell to avoid competition.0

The listed price can/will go up if bidding is fierce. You need an eBay login, and you need to select Completed Listings for the book(s) you plan to sell.
This will show you actual sale prices, and give you a better idea of current trending. If the actual sales average out at £10, say, I'd suggest you have little or no chance of getting £300 -

Perhaps your valuation of your books is unrealistic. Or other sellers want a quick sale and price their books lower. You can see the same item repeatedly failing to sell and being relisted. So you have to decide whether you want to sell the books quickly at a lower price or hold out for a higher price and perhaps not sell.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
You have got some serious competition from this charity:

It is interesting how the tax system intruding into nearly 50% of everything we do caused distortions.0 -

I've just spent the last 90 minutes playing with a few of these websites:
webuybooks
ziffit
zapper
musicmagpie
fatbrain
I scanned a huge range of books from Phantom of the Opera Penguin Classics to Michael Cricton's Andromeda Strain and from Jeremy Clarkson's Autobiography to some degree level Physics and Maths books. A huge proportion of books would not be accepted, those that were came back with crazy offers - £0.01 for mint quality hardback books.
I tried some old DVDs and CDs and Playstation 2 Games. They were much more willing to buy these (in fact every single one came back with an offer) but the prices were again stupidly low. Nearly new computer games were coming in at less than £5 and entire box sets bought in the past 12 months were coming in at about £3.
On the whole, in my experience, you will spend a disproportionately large amount of your time scanning or typing in barcodes to make an enormously small amount of money. It looks like this way of making a few extra quid is out of date - perhaps there was some money to make when this idea was new, but you won't get much for your items now.0 -
Wasted a lot of time. Many selling for a penny on amazon plus postage. A couple of text books sold so pleased with that.
Ebay - relisted twice and gave up - I think the postage puts people off so you have to take the hit and therefore earn nothing.
Checked the sites mentioned and really not worth the time to do it including finding boxes and packing as per instructions.
The money and time involved isn't worth it.
Actually got fed up and put them in the boot and took them to the charity shop. Job done, less money wasted in petrol and time!0 -
I have a load of goosebumps books and no one seems to take them, ot sure why. Tried fatbrain they accept but only offer 10p each book and theres not enough books for the £15 minimum
Any ideas??0 -
