I have a friend who is returning to this country having spent the last 10 years working in Thailand as an English teacher.
He has a job sorted here paying excellent money and wants to sort out a home ASAP.
He is looking at buying a property for approx £250,000 and has a 10% deposit.
Can anyone recommend a financial institution that will lend on the basis of a 10% deposit and no credit history?

is he on the electoral roll anywhere? I would recommend that due to his circumstances he see's a whole of market mortgage broker - as if he has no credit history there will be a lot of lenders who will automatically decline thisI am a Mortgage Adviser

These can be trickier, but there are plenty of high street lenders that will do a mortgage for an ex-pat returning to the UK.
However as stated above I would to go via an adviser, as they will know, based on your circumstances, which lenders will be more likely to accpet your application
