It all depends what games you want.

The PSP comes in 3 flavours, the prices are a guide I know you can get the pink value pack for £165 from Game but who the hell wants a pink PSP?
    Base pack ~£150
    Value pack ~£180
    Giga pack ~£215

The electrical retailers Curry's, Dixon's, PC world normally change their console and game bundles 2 or 3 times a year so they are usually out of date and you pay for old games, the Games shops update their bundles as and when new games come out so you Will be able to pick up new games at a slightly discounted price when bought with a console.

I wouldn't bother with a base pack unless you enjoy not being able to save games.
The Value pack has a 32mb card for saving games its not alot but the other bits you get in the box are worth the extra money.
The giga pack is expensive as you can buy a 2GB card and a value pack for less than the cost of the gigapack the only difference in the value and giga is the 1GB memory card over the 32mb.

Advice go to game have a look at what they are offering, if they have a bundle you like buy it the saving is about £20 on the console and 1 game bundles. and ask what can they do for you if you buy another game or 2. head for the manager of the store they are more likely to offer better deals than the underlings ;)

If you really want to haggle go for the independent games stores they will throw all sorts of stuff in pay cash and see what they will give you, don't just go see 5 games they may be 5 crap game that you don't want to play come up with a list of games you are interested in before you even think about going getting one.

Can't you add memory to the base pack?

You can but the case, headphones and remote are worth paying the extra for.

If you dont mind second hand try your local bargain pages or friday ad as i have seen some very good deals in there. Ebay never really seems to have any PSP bargains as the price tends to get pushed upto what you would usually pay at any normal retailer.
