in Cutting tax
Tax code 810L (Tax free allowance 8,100).
This tax year I've only earnt £3957.87 but for the past 4 weeks I have been paying tax at 20% (£230). which is obviously wrong.
Do I need to talk to the tax office or is it with the company (payroll?) where the issue lies.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds about right to me. Don't forget that your allowance is given to you a bit at a time as the year goes by so assuming you are up to week 18 you would get about £2806 tax free and be due tax on £1151 which is £230 or thereabouts.0 -
I've been in my job about 9 weeks, first job since the tax year started. I thought it was just a lump sum then you paid everything beyond that point, at least I know for the future now. Thank you.0
