I need help with how to look + get a job successfully. I haven't had a job before.
I'm studying childcare in september for 2 years.
I would love a job in childcare but anything with Animals
& Waitressing though I'm not choosy at the moment.
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips to get a job ?
Thanks

A lof of waitress jobs advertise now with a notice on their window, but you need to be quick of the mark as competition is fierce at the moment, it seems to be the less skilled the job the more competition it has. As for animals I really would not have a clue.0 -

theres usually quite a bit of care and support work in most areas, if your a driver they are more flexible as we are an aging nation so will be needed more in the upcoming years too:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

Thats a good point, loads of these types of jobs about however it takes a particular kind of person to be a carer.0 -
Waitressing wise, just hand in your CV to as many restaurants/pubs as you can find, as the more options you have the more chance you have of getting a yes. Also, be prepared to work a variety of shifts and hours depending on the business. If you can afford to be flexible then it will be in your favour.
Animal wise you are best off applying to volunteer at a local animal sanctuary/zoo/dogs home, which can often lead to a job in the future. Again, showing commitment is the biggest positive I can advise.
Good luck in your job search. It's a tough market out there at the moment so don't feel dejected if you hear a lot of 'no's' before you finally get a 'yes'.Mastercard:£450/£700 [strike]Car finance: £0/£8200 [/strike]paid in full![strike]Credit agreement (laptop): £0/£550[/strike]paid in full! Without actual vocational experience you will be unlikely to get a job in Animal Care - lots and lots of people out there with Animal Care qualifications and relevant job experience. I would stick with waitressing for the time being - it's a cleaner job and more of them around! Most people think working with animals is all about walking dogs and brushing them - it's not, it's 99% about cleaning up after them!0

i don't mind cleaning up after animals - if i get paid lol
I don't drive & have just a tiny little bit of experience in waitressing.

If you don't have much experience in the job you are applying for then you are better off focussing your CV on your qualities that relate to the job - for example in waitressing you must have excellent customer-facing attributes, such as a good sense of humour, politeness, empathy and an ability to put their needs first. Also add that you are flexible when it comes to hours of work, and that you are happy to work in any role (you may get asked to cover kitchen porter shifts etc - slightly less glamorous than waiting tables!).
Give your CV in to hotels as well as standalone restaurants, they are always looking for 'seasonal' staff which more often than not turn out to be permanent positions.Mastercard:£450/£700 [strike]Car finance: £0/£8200 [/strike]paid in full![strike]Credit agreement (laptop): £0/£550[/strike]paid in full! My tip a CV is faceless and forgetable.
Those who come in for a visit (I work in childcare) give the best impression and are much more memorable at interview.
Never underestimate the first impression and if this is of a lovely bubbly and vibrant person - you are streets ahead of a faceless CV with vast experience.0 -
The thing is i'm not available for lot of work.
When i start college in September i'm there from 9:30am - 4:30pm all week and then on the other week i'm in placement doing the times they want me to do, and i'll have to do coursework. So i'm limited with hours.SavingsRepayment: £0/£359.00
