Hey All
I'm In Need Of Some Desperate Help. I Declared Myself Bankrupt After University Thinking This Was The Easy Way Out, Which In All Honesty It Has Been As I Was Living With My Parents At The Time & Had To Surrender Absolutely Nothing & Pay My Creditors Nothing.
Problem Is, I've Been Discharged Now For 2 Years, But My Credit Is Still A Complete Mess. I Cannot Get A Credit Card (not Even A Capital One Card), Mobile Phone, Pretty Much Anything.
I Have A Good Job Earning +£25000 Pa, But Only Have A Cash Card W/o Cheque Book Or Debit Card - Only Cash Card For Kids.
I've Downloaded My Credit History From Experian & It Shows Thay I'm Still In Debt To My Creditors From From Before My Bankrupcy & This Hasn't Been Updated & I Have No Idea How To Get This This Changed Or What Letters To Send.
Please Can You Help Because I M In Limbo Here & Despeately Need To Escape The Holds Of My Past.
Thanks Guys

Hi
you could try contacting the creditors yourself and tell them the debt has been settled because of your bankruptcy and they should then update your file making them all settled:D i have seen and read something somewhere on this forum explaining the process and what to do:D and i have seen a letter set out in a proforma which you can copy and just fill in the blanks and send it to your creditors telling them to update your credit file:j
im sorry though i cannot remember where i saw it
maybe someone else who has seen it can direct you in the right direction:D
hope that helps:D0 -
Hi, Im in a similar position to yourself. I had to go bankrupt 2 years ago after my ex-husband 'disappeared' with all our money. Left me and our 4 children homeless with nothing! I was discharged 1 year ago but my credit history is bad - like you I can't get any form of credit, cheque account etc. I would like to know what to do too?
Hope someone can help!! Thanks0 -
Thanks Paul - i will hav a look as its the letter templates i really need
If anyone else can help in the meantime - please point me in the right direction0 -
As far as i am aware with credit agencies like Experian, all you have to do is either email them or call them to ask them to get the creditors to amend your file to show that the debts have been settled. I however am not entirely sure if this is the same process after BR ? It takes a little while to get the amendments / notes made, but then it gets cleared.0
