I have documentation dating back to 2000 that I had mortgage payment protection with Legal & General (L&G) as provided and recommended by independent financial advisor. Never claimed on it.
I have a couple of questions and I hope someone can guide me:
1. Would I need to write to L&G to claim a ppi? Or
2. Would I have write to the independent financial advisor/company directly?
3. one of the ppi is with PYV, does anyone have any experience with this company?
As I am finding this whole process quite daunting can anyone recommend a experienced, patient claims handler?
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

A 2000 predates regulation of general insurance and so an independent adviser need not answer your complaint.
In any case, you have given no reason to suppose the policy was missold. In 2000 if you had lost your income through illness or redundancy you would have received no state help for nine months - by which time it could have been too late to save your home. So the recommendation seems wise.
No CMC is going to take on this case unless they charge an up front fee which they will keep when it becomes obvious that they cannot get any money for you.0 -

1 -no
2 - the IFA but as it is 2000, then it is pre-regulation. So, the IFA will reject it.
3 - doesnt matter who it is with.
It is normal to have insurances with mortgages. You have indicated no wrong doing either. Just for reference, the FOS reported that jut 0.2% of PPI complaints with them were advised cases. The FSCS only upheld 5% of complaints against mortgage advisers. So, the odds of yours being bad are pretty low. Why do you think yours are bad? (not that it makes any difference if they are given the year)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
