Is Leyton good for the Velodrome

Some how have to drop DS off at Nursery and get to Velodrome by 10am. No chance of getting there 2 hours before the start as suggested!!
Anyway, Leyton tube looks the closest to the Velodrom, access via Eton Manor Gate.
However there is almost no information about this station, it's actually missing on all the maps I can find on 2012. I asked GAOTG and despite me saying there is no info on the map they replied to say "please see the map" - I guess they didn't even read my message (thanks!).
This makes me thing the station won't be in use or something? It's one stop past Stratford on the central line (which is normally clear of commuters past Liverpool st.) so don't think it will be too bad (im a London based commuter so used to packed tubes!). Apparently a 15min walk to the velodrome from there (beats the 1hr from West Ham as suggested by the automated route finder - what's that about?)
So, anyone done this route to Eton Manor entrance?
Is that a normal public access entrance, hoping less busy than Stratford?
Is the central Line->Leyton doable from Liverpool St (or bank) - I don't mind a squeeze aslong as there's room for 2 (am guessing commuters will be getting off)?
Thanks.

Not sure if it's the best station for the velodrome but it's open as usual (my boss commutes from there!)
I don't think they publicised it as I think they want to use it as an overflow station in case Stratford etc are packed so they haven't promoted using it.:hello:

Thanks shorelines. I think you're right, my observation is that they are promoting various routes to intentionally take the pressure off other places. I noticed in Waterloo they are sending people over the bridge to Embankment, and at London Bridge they are routing people to Monument.
On paper Leyton looks like the nearest station with walkit.com giving us a 15min walk to the Eton Manor entrance. 20mins quicker than Stratford and I would guess that entrance is less busy.
If anyone has been this route, I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks xx0 -
Just to add, I asked my boss about the velodrome entrance from Leyton and she said it's quite a way.
I don't know how useful walkit.com is being at the moment - again my boss used it to calculate her route to work...and told her to walk through the Olympic Park! Don't think they've updated their database.
I've read the Stratford entrance is really busy and the other gates less so. So you may be ok.:hello:

diamondgeezer says its almost a mile from Leyton tube so that would be a 10 to 15 minute walk

Intriguing site, never come across it before.
So sounds like it's a real possible for Velodrome visitors, but make sure we know the way and hope we don't get to the gate at the same time as a large coach party.
Hmm, not sure now. Stratford seems the safer option but it's soooo long away!0 -
SunnySusie - I am planning to use Leyton when we go to the Velodrome on Tuesday. If you do go that way, please report back how you get on.0
