Work causing depression & rights.

Looking for a little help.

The boyfriend used to love his job as a storeman. He was 'temporally' moved and hates his new role. This move was nearly 3 years ago. Despite assurance's that he would be moved back this has never happened.

I've slowly watchedhim go downhill. He doesn't like the people and spends a lot of time alone so it's quite an anti-social role.

He doesn't sleep very well, has quite bad mood swings and I have long thought suffered from depression (his mother suffers and I've read that this increases the likleyhood a child may suffer).

He's having a rather bad day today and desperatly wants out. Although we are looking for another job in todays times it's not that great a pick.

He believes his contract states that he can be moved anywhere within the company, so asking to go back to the role he did enjoy doesn't have to be obligated. I've spoken about seeing a doctor and taking a little time off, although his responce to this was that his manager would love it as it would become another stick to beat him with (he working in a military enviroment as a civillian, although quite a lot of them have a big attitude issue and his manager since he stated made him fully aware he didn't like him).

I suppose after all that my question is, is there any legislation that can help in terms of moving him back to his old job? Or at least help a little bit.
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

No there is no legislation, even if there were, they could move him around as business dictates.

He is right to look for another job, no point being in a job which makes you miserable, I guess he needs to put his energies into that, and how to manage the time he is there.

The problem with going sick is that it solves nothing. Ultimately he either needs to work it out with his manager, or get out - these are the only two options he can control unfortunately. And the first one might be difficult, of course.
