cheque help anyone please

    hi all . have got cheque signed late last night . but is now saying she will stop it if i dont move some sand out of her back garden . told her its not my sand .its a right mish mash . and her ex (who asked me to do the job for them and got the sand to there house ) told me not to move it as its not mine, andf he has rung her and told her . i hate being a pawn in her game .

    remember, if she /they stops the cheque it is illegal and can be reported to the police x

    Had you put through the cheque bearing the single signature she could, and probably would, have countermanded it at a later date ... leaving you overdrawn and with a real problem. And all this talk of 'illegal' and 'police' and 'fraud' ...... is simply talk, it has no foundation.

    But what you should have done, after obtaining the 2nd signature .. is fork out £10 - £12 and get your Bank to do a 'special presentation'. Whereby they would have posted the cheque to the company Branch and asked if it would be honoured upon presentation? If the funds were there at that point, they would be 'reserved' to meet your cheque. Doesn't get you the money faster - as it still has to go through Clearing - but provided it passed that first hurdle -little likelihood it could bounce thereafter.
    If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
