True.
Well chosen words, though. I was considering those, whose inability to pay is real, not alleged. This does not remove your responsibility, which I why I didn't mention it, but it can affect your ability to do anything about it.

You would be looking for a very long time to find someone in this country who truly was too poor to be able to realistically afford not to eat a higher-welfare balanced diet.
People are of course free to make their own choices, but equally others are free to remind those people of the consequences of those choices.0 -
I buy Mabel Pearman's Burford Brown Hen eggs by Clarence Court from Sainsburys, at £1.99 for 6. They are classed as free range but are fed a non-GM vegetarian diet as standard and I do notice a difference in taste compared to other free range eggs. I know they are not cheap but then I don't want to pay cheap prices when the companies treat their chickens cheaply with bad feed and bad welfare.'Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves'0

I will have a look for these thanks. I have had the Clarence Court quail's eggs from Waitrose, as they are great hard-boiled and put in salads and as snacks. Not sure Sainsbury's still does them but I once got a dozen quail's eggs YS for 10p there !0

I have just had a look on the Sainsburys website under 'Duck, Quail & Speciality Eggs' but they did not have any duck or quail eggs listed.

Unfortunately, you don't have to look, just wait and not for very long, at my local food bank. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I watched a documentary on poverty in the US and it was really shocking to see people living under makeshift plastic shelters in the local woods and not getting access to health care, education, clean water etc. When they asked for help they were told they weren't eligible. But here, people CAN get benefits, drug rehab, free healthcare, B&B accommodation/emergency shelters etc0

It's a pity that the food bank can't use eggs. From whatever source, they are a perfect little indivual portion of protein, minerals and vitamins. Considering what they are designed for, this isn't really a surprise. The Mk1. eggshell is a miracle of packaging. 100% recyclable too.
PS. I was wondering what to have for dinner, to use up the leftover salad from yesterday. A nice, plain, simple omelette. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

Is this right? They can't take eggs? Why not?Stephen_Leak wrote:PS. I was wondering what to have for dinner, to use up the leftover salad from yesterday. A nice, plain, simple omelette.

Out of interest, why would anyone feed chickens a vegetarian diet? Chickens are omnivores! I wonder if they follow them around, telling them not to eat worms, bugs and grubs?0
