DWP new recruits

So, for all those lucky people who now have a job in DWP I'm interested in what are your first (second, third etc) impressions are of working for the DWP.
Do you think the recruitment was handled well?
Are you doing the job you wanted or applied for?
Do you feel you have received adequate training to do the job you are doing?
What do you think of the Office you are working in e.g. is it well run or not?
Do you think you earn the money you are paid or do you feel you are overpaid for the job you do (as per the Daily Mail)?
Are you disillusioned with the way the DWP is run/managed yet?

I`m NOT a new recruit but a veteran of approx 24 years in another Govt Dept.
In my time I have NOT been shocked by the ineptitude of senior management, but I have enjoyed my 3 different jobs in the same dept & enjoyed the people I work with.
To me the perks of the job (flexi, holidays & pension ) make up for the low pay, BUT the new recruits will only enjoy the benefits of flexi & holidays.
To all of you I would say that you will get back what you put into the job, sometimes its carp but the vast majority of the time you will enjoy yourself !
(And finally join the PCS Union, you never know when you will need a helping hand, I should know I have needed them 3 times and had a satisfactory result every time !).0
