I'm just curious, why did you stop paying it.
As far as Im aware, you have actually acknowledged the debt by paying the £400. When did you pay this by the way.

Wait for more people coming along to help. If you owe it though,
maybe t is best to pay it before it actually gets to your credit file.
Read the papers that came with it, thoroughly

from the info you provided it sounds like all you can do stop a CCJ is pay up

even if a CCJ is granted you can still pay up within 28 days

i paid moorcroft 10 pound most months up untill last year when i stopped paying the balence was 288

as you say you already have a deafult so your credit file is already not the best but yeah contact Bryan Carters and pay it. It seriosuly isn't worth risking a CCJ (especially if you have plans for a mortgage next year!)

As the debt is quite old I'd say you have a very good chance of them accepting less. make them an offer....
  • thank you for all your help i will make them an offer x

You have 14 days to respond to the claim form (28 if you complete the acknowledgement of service).

If you can pay this straight away you can file a defence that the debt is 'paid in full' and no judgement should be issued.

As Gareth has said, if you get the judgement and pay within 28 days then it is not registered with the credit agencies.

It's a bit late to try a settlement deal. You can try but they've already spent money on the claim, and time is against you. If a clean credit file is important then you just need to pay this.

If you can get the funds together, just pay it and think about how good your going to feel when you are debt free, no ccj to worry about and your credit file about to clear.

    Phew, good luck.
