hi my partner is quitting his job so he can be my full time carer but also as we have severe problems with our daughter so it will help very much. his notice is 1 month plus 1 week for every year hes worked there. is there any exceptions to the rule if hes its to care for his family? his contract only says exactly what i said.
any help would be useful as the sooner hes home caring for us the better as life is so difficult for us at present.

There are no such exceptions as far as I am aware.
The contract governs this situation.
However, he might find:
a) that he is owed some holiday, which he could take at the end of the notice period so that he effectively is at home sooner than the end of the notice period; or
b) his employers agree to let him go sooner.
If he doesn't ask, he won't get.0
