Mortgage approved for less than needed

I'd still be reasonably comfortable with a 3% rise in interest, so that is good.
According to a PDF I found on the Woolwich website for mortgage brokers the Electoral role and late payment may have put me in the "Medium" credit score category which means max of 4x salary. This is a bit annoying since I have no control over when the council to update the electoral register!
I guess I just have to try find another lender who will give me up to 5x with those two factors in my credit score..0
