Hi everyone i have been asked to make a jokey action man/army themed hamper for a young boy starting the army in September for around £15 so far I have bought an action man copy from the [ound shop, a toy gun, a pair of army binoculars and an army helmet. but was wanting to put in somethings that might be a little more useful. i thought maybe army style boxers and socks can anyone think of any other ideas? thanks

a couple of mini sewing kits a smallish one for his room in Barracks for doing everything including his going out shirt buttons and one that is literally a needle a couple of the little card bobbins of thread that he can fit in his bergen most soldiers don't wear old style dark camouflage now and are in modern camo which is lighter so mid greens, browns and beiges as opposed to darker colours plus standard black and white for everything
see link below for uniform colours http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8422942.stm
any lad/girl who has a needle and thread is a lifesaver on basic! especially if they know how to use it
randomly a roll or 2 of fishing line from the pound shop its amazing what fishing line can be used for..specially when you need to start building shelters etc its strong its lightweight
small things that pack well and are light like sachets of hot chocolate, individually wrapped tea bags are all good for packing in his bergen when off out on exercise to brighten up his and his colleagues breaks anything light and individually wrapped or in small enough packets to share so sweets, mints etc
a tea towel excellent for ironing as a novice so you dont end up messing up what you are ironing when you need an extra hot iron also dampen to get difficult creases out etc0 -
Handwarmers for those winter exercises?
Small laminated pocket sized photo of his family or girlfriend etc?
Box of matches/firelighters?
With regard to "shebangs" ideas about sachets of tea and hot chocolate it's quite easy to get these as freebies if you keep your eye on the freebies board.0 -

This year I will have something that resembles a garden and not a building site!0
