Lots of debts don't appear on your credit files.

    So you need to know:

    - who they say you owe money to
    - how much they say you owe
    - what the original reference was
    - when was the last payment made
    - do they claim there is a county court judgement on it.

There's no reason why they shouldn't give you that information in response to a prove-it.
  • thanks for the reply.the bill they say is from barclays bank.which when i closed the account down overdraft and loans were clear.i will ring them monday morning and ask them for proof.thanks again

Do it in writing! RW will then pass your request to Barclays and stop their stupid letters while this is being investigated.

And you want a reply in writing, with copies of statements.

There was probably a direct debit or service charge that didn't get cancelled, but it's for them to explain it to you, not for you to work it out yourself.

if pre 2004 it wont appear
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
