Bank Loan Error?
We opened a brand new bank account last month. We have not yet arranged for salary's to be paid in. We do not have a fantastic credit history ( understatement) .
More out of desperation than anything, we applied on line for a loan and received an Agreement in Principle.
We didnt really expect to hear anything back, as we assumed once the further checks were carried out, we would get declined.
I was stunned to log into online banking yesterday morning, to see the funds sitting there, available to me, paid in via Internal Transfer. There is nothing showing in my "offers" and when I try to log in to my " quotes and applications" it says that there is an error and the system may not be able to show all my recent information.
We have not yet received any paperwork for this loan.
Do you think this could be a mistake, and could they ask for all this money back at once?

Sounds like Barclays from what you have referred to.
Paperwork will come in the post.
You've already agreed to what they've done by ticking boxes on the online application.
You did read the T&Cs as the website tells you to before ticking the boxes I presume?
You have the standard cooling off period, but make sure you don't spend any of it if you are intending to refuse the loan.
If you applied 'in desperation' and will have difficulty in paying it back, I suggest you refuse the loan and they will take the money back.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Hi
It is Nationwide.
I did read everything carefully and we can easily afford the repayments.
I am just worried they will turn round next week and say that it was a mistake and we shouldn't have been accepted, and want all the money back immediately, after I have spent it.
The Internal Transfer of the funds, has now changed on my online banking, to say "transfer from" and then it lists a sort code and account number.
Surely too much of a co-incidence that someone would accidentally incorrectly transfer the exact amount we applied for, a couple of days after we applied.
I was worried that some poor soul had entered an account number incorrectly, and I now have their ££.I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<30 -

To you, your credit history may not be fantastic but to Nationwide, you meet their criteria. so enjoy your loan and spend wisely.
