Overdraft

Hi, I've posted before about our overdraft with. Santander. We no longer use the account, and with charges and interest our overdraft stood at £2500.
We were paying it off at £50 per month, which was very tight but we managed it, anyway Santander have now decided enoughs enough and it's getting sold on to a DCA.
So, my question is this....
Can we ask the DCA ( who will, no doubt, buy the debt for a pittance) to " prove" it? As with other debts that go to DCA's? Not trying to shirk the responsibility here, just interested in wether they would, actually, be able to prove it.
Can we then offer a significantly smaller settlement figure?
( not that we have anything to offer!)
Thanks

You don't need to use the "prove it" theory to reduce the payment.
If they have purchased it at a less amount (they do) then they may accept a full and final settlement. Why don't you make a offer that you can afford and see what they say. I'd expect if you continue to make the monthly payments they will just lap them up!0
