When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning lovelies  2nd day of a 3 day weekend for me, bliss! :D I love the weekend mornings when everyone else is asleep and I get a couple of hours of peace :T

Not planning on doing too much today as did mega clean yesterday and loads of DFW things ;) But my weekend efforts will be:
  • check banking & transfer my 1/2 of wine costs into joint account
  • all meals from stores
  • pop to work and pick up butter left in fridge (rather than buying another tub) decided while I was at lidl to just buy some 75p, saving some time :T
  • [STRIKE]go to Lidl in a minute and stock up in the 1/2 price coffee offer[/STRIKE] [COLOR="rgb(255, 0, 255)"]other than coffee spent £4.01 on bananas, 2 aubergines, pasta & butter
  • Only spend £5 of personal cash
  • Mrs Flylady bathroom
  • drop off things to CS
  • either go for a mega walk/bike ride or go to the gym
  • play scrabble and drink wine with oh
  • make banana cake while the oven is on later

entered a few comps

That's all of my plans for the day! Hope you all have a lovely Saturday x[/COLOR]

Morning to DNMS and Rising From The Ashes and all that follow!

Currently sat in front of the Olympics after watching the opening ceremony last night and becoming inspired - must get a shift on else I'll get stuck here for the day!

    Today I will:
    Check banks
Check CCs (find PO CC details)
Cut up Amazon CC - confirmation of closed account received
Quick tidy and vacuum of bedroom
Finish OU online exercise and start TMA
NSD - shouldn't need to buy anything...
    Check TCB
    Check Ebay items
    SB clicks

Think that's it for now, sure I will think of something else later on!

    Have a great day all!

Good morning everyone, It is a dry morning here but I think it has been raining during the night, so my plans for the day might have to change slightly.
DNMS – Thanks for starting us off this morning.
Rising from the ashes – Welcome back

    My list for today:
    • [STRIKE]Quick shower[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]All meals from stores[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Work on web reviews[/STRIKE]
    • Declutter dd’s bedroom Work in Progress
    • Finish cutting the grass and tidying the garden It is too wet due to the rain during the night :(
    • Washing – full loads Work in Progress
    • [STRIKE]Surveys and One poll[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Superpoints and Swagbucks[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Check through Mr A shopping when it arrives and put away[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Frozen food shopping armed with a list[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Go to DIY store and get gloss paint for dd’s bedroom[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Do some work on crafts[/STRIKE]
    • Work on scheduling course work
    • Look into trains for Friday, as going to watch Olympic football
    • [STRIKE]Look for an online tv guide for the Olympics[/STRIKE]
    • Make a start on decorating dd’s bedroom Work in Progress
    • Quite night in today with hubby once kids are in bed Hubby is going to work on decorating dd's bedroom therefore not quite what I had planned but still cheaper than going out and the decorating is getting done.
I think that is everything for today, although not very mse it is all things that I need to do in order to survive and have a clear head, which will help me to stay focused and save money. Hope everyone has a good Saturday x

As well as getting a lot of things done on my planned list I have also sourced dates for the local car boot sale and spoke to hubby about decluttering and doing a couple of boot sales.
  • Hi everyone.

We're still grabbing on to the sunshine where I am this morning but the forecast for next week looks like a return to rainy days to coincide with my annual leave! At least the temptation to go out and spend will be significantly reduced if it is chucking it down!

Is there anywhere on the forum that gives advice on how to start doing online surveys for cash? What is One Poll??

I received a credit card statement in the post this morning (just what every girl wants to wake up to!). HSBC have started doing an annual credit card statement thingy, which shows you everything you have spent and paid off in the last year. I have managed to spend the same amount I have paid off, which is so frustrating because if I had just not used the blooming thing it would be nearly paid off. It's another wake up call.

    This weekend...

Check banks to see if extra credit card payment has gone through

All meals from stores as I did an ASDA shop yesterday and the total cost was a lot better than I thought it would be. I did spend ages in there hunting bargains (I'm the queen of yellow stickered reduced items. Best buy yesterday were naan breads for 11p that went in the freezer for later in the week. Bargain!)

LSDs - I want to make the little money I have left over after bills this month last, but the OH and I are on our hols now so might treat ourselves to a coffee (cheap Maccy Ds rather than Neros) or cheeky ice cream if we walk the pooch into town

    Hoover upstairs and clean bathroom

Scout out items to car boot then use profits towards credit card debt rather than wasting it

    Crack on with coursework :o

KJP know how you feel! Have so far seen rowing & am currently watching badmington :)...... Minimouse thanks for the welcome back :) & Princess Pea :T to the survey sites (I joined several but never seem to meet the criteria to progress....)

Things not progressing too quickly :o as thought I'd have a snooze for a few mins - which turned into 3 hours  (have been feeling tired this week so must've needed it!)

    So .... to the list:
    • Walk dog - have re-added as it'll need to happen several times! x 1
    • Pluck up courage to log into online banking (don't think it's going to be pretty & not paid until Tuesday) courage plucked up & it wasn't pretty
    • ETA missed this one earlier & it's a really important one!:o Check cc statement & transfer amounts from relevant pots to main account to pay the bill done:)
    • Work out budgets for August ready for payday :) when I can do the transfers to the pots done:)
    • Work out the points (just started fat club) on all the tins / jars in the cupboards to try to make cooking easier:) started
    • Sort out freezers - put normal meals into outside one & use inside one for HM ready meals which are "pointed"
    • Sit down and do some recipe building for low point meals
    • Sort the pets stuff out
    • Washing (1 down, 2 to go) 1 to do but think it'll have to wait until tomorrow as .....
    • Try to get some outside (just had a shower tho') I've run out of hanging space as it's showery outside
    • Take a wander up the hill later (if not raining) and try to watch some of the airshow:) raining atm but may try shortly - can see some from the garden tho';)
    • Squeeze in F1 qualifying errr should be doing that right now & I'd forgotten about it as it's not on TV:o internet's running too slow for it to work :( it's been terrible since a really heavy storm yesterday
    • Try to do a bit of Flylady ..... house has really been neglected lately
    • Sort out drawers and get rid of stuff that's never need used - hopefully may get some stuff to sell on e*bay:)
    • Make huge pot of Chilli
    • Do a stock take on toiletries - as seem to have a fair bit of these in now ..
So - what can I say ..... must try harder this afternoon! (although on the + side, I do feel better now I've had that sleep!):)

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for starting us off DNMS.

I'm currently lost in a sea of thank you cards for the wedding - really need to finish them this weekend & post on Monday! So not much time left over for debt busting :( Here's a small list though:-

    Today I have/will:-
    • Making thank you cards ourselves - cheapo cards from H0bbycraft, with a photo of us on our wedding day from Mr T's (used 20% off code) & all handwritten, yikes!
    • All food from stores
    • Used 10p off a litre petrol voucher to fill up
    • Log calories using free app
    • Charge phone via pc
    • Check online banking
    • Go to second job
    • Resist urge to buy tickets for a gig I can't afford...I can't afford it as the money I could spend on it needs to go towards debt (if I repeat that several times, it'll start sinking in right?!)
Have a great MSE day everyone x
    :idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57
